How to Calculate Paint Quantity
To work out how much paint you need, measure your room's length, width, and height. Calculate the total wall area (perimeter × height), subtract doors and windows, then divide by the paint's coverage rate. Most premium trade paints cover around 15m² per litre.
Tips for Getting It Right
- Always buy slightly more — coverage depends on surface porosity and application method
- Dark to light? Add an extra coat to prevent show-through
- New plaster? Needs a mist coat first, which uses more paint
- Textured surfaces — use 20–30% more than the coverage rate suggests
