Wallpaper + Paint Package: How the Bundle Works (Cheshire & South Manchester)

Our most-booked wallpaper service. Why bundling paper with a room repaint saves money, time, and headaches.

What the Bundle Is

The wallpaper + paint package combines a feature wall installation with a repaint of the rest of the room in a coordinated colour. Everything happens in a single visit, with one trade, one quote, and one clean-up. It's our most-booked wallpaper service in the Cheshire / South Manchester corridor and the option we recommend to most clients considering wallpaper.

Bundle pricing: £450–£950 depending on room size and paper choice. Most rooms done in 1–2 days.

Why People Pick It

Six reasons clients consistently land on the bundle rather than just papering or just painting:

1. The scheme works as one

Picking a feature wallpaper and then trying to find a paint that "works with it" later is an exercise in compromise. On the site visit, we bring trade paint sample cards and talk through the paper and paint together — what reads warm vs cool, what amplifies the paper's tone vs fights it. The colours get picked against the paper itself, not against your guess at what the paper will look like.

2. One trade, one visit

Hiring a wallpaper hanger separately and then a painter to do the rest of the room means coordinating two trades, two site visits, two days off work, two quotes, two invoices. The bundle is one of each.

3. It's cheaper

Shared prep, shared masking, shared dust sheets, shared clean-up time. We save roughly £80–£150 vs running the two jobs separately, and that saving comes off your quote.

4. The finish ties together

Trim, switches, sockets, skirting — all done last, all matched to the new paint colour. No "feature wall done but the rest looks tired" feel.

5. The room is usable faster

One disruption window instead of two. Most bundled rooms are finished and ready to live in within 48 hours of the start of work.

6. The pricing is fixed

Free site visit, written fixed-price quote, that's the number you pay. No per-roll surprises, no per-day creep.

How a Bundle Visit Runs

Day 1 — Prep and line

Furniture covered, walls stripped if needed, filled, sanded, vacuumed. Lining paper hung on the feature wall and left to dry. Tomorrow's painting and hanging can't start until the lining is cured (24-48 hours typically).

Day 2 — Hang and paint

Wallpaper hung on the feature wall first. Then the other three walls and ceiling get two coats of Dulux Trade in your chosen colour. Trim and switches tidied last to match the new paint. Final inspection and sign-off.

Day 3 (rare)

Reserved for complications — heavy paper, complex pattern matching, very large rooms. Most bundles complete in 2 days.

Case Study — Bedroom Bundle in Hale

A recent bundle in Hale: standard double bedroom (3.5m × 4m), chimney breast feature wall in Cole & Son Hummingbirds (paper supplied by client), remaining 3 walls and ceiling repainted in a coordinated Farrow & Ball Cromarty (paint at supplier cost).

  • Prep: 4 hours including strip of existing matt paint marks and minor wall repairs
  • Lining: 1.5 hours, left overnight to dry
  • Hang feature wall: 3.5 hours including drop-matched seams across the chimney breast
  • Repaint other walls + ceiling: 5 hours over 2 coats
  • Trim and finish: 1 hour
  • Total time: 2 days
  • Total cost: £680 (paper supplied separately at £320; paint £45 supplier)

Hiring separately would have been a wallpaper hanger at ~£280 + painter at ~£420 = £700, plus an extra day's disruption. Bundle saved roughly £100 in cost and a day in disruption.

Common Bundle Choices

Bedroom bundles

Bedhead wall in a designer paper (Cole & Son, Little Greene, Harlequin); rest of room in a calm paint (Dulux Trade Brilliant White, Farrow & Ball Skimming Stone, Little Greene Slaked Lime).

Living room bundles

Chimney breast in a statement paper (Cole & Son Woods, Hummingbirds, Designers Guild); rest of room in a paint that reads as either neutral background (Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt Polished Pebble) or as a deliberate complement (Farrow & Ball Down Pipe, Little Greene Pleat).

Dining room bundles

Single feature wall opposite the door in a strong paper (Fornasetti, Sanderson archive, Morris & Co Strawberry Thief); rest of room in a richer paint (Dulux Trade in deep teal, Farrow & Ball Card Room Green).

Hallway bundles

Up to picture rail in a deep paint, paper above (or vice versa). Or single statement wall on the wall facing the front door.

What's Not in the Bundle

Worth being explicit about what isn't included:

  • Plaster repairs beyond minor filling (separate quote if needed)
  • Replacing damaged skirting, coving, or trim (separate)
  • Painting woodwork beyond switch tidying (separate quote — bundle covers walls and ceiling primarily)
  • The wallpaper itself (supplied at trade cost or by client)
  • Multi-day environmental control (e.g. dehumidifier hire for special installations)

These all come up rarely in standard bundles. We flag them at the site visit if they apply.

When the Bundle Isn't Right

  • You want a full-room wallpaper job (all 4 walls papered). That's a different service — see our wallpapering pricing.
  • HNW specialist papers (de Gournay, Fromental, Iksel). These are commission-installed and quoted by consultation rather than as a bundle.
  • The "rest of the room" isn't a repaint job — e.g. wood-clad walls, panelled walls, or surfaces other than paintable plaster.
